Oil on mason board in laminated wooden frame - framed 25 1/8" x 16 13/16" - unframed 24 3/8" x 15 7/8" - signed - early 1970's - Joseph's works are rare - in mint condition.

Franklin M. Joseph was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti in 1951. He studied at the Lycee Pierre Garriere. In 1969, he started painting under the tutelage of Haitian master painter, Philome Obin. Joseph paints with a heavy palette knife. His style is impressionism. His works are covered in the book “Art & Kitsch” (1986) by Eva Pataki and illustrations of his painting can be seen in John Allen Franciscus’ book, “Haiti Voodoo Kingdom To Modern Riviera” (1980). Joseph's works were featured in many galleries both in Haiti and abroad.
