Vintage Haitian Painting - "Harbor Scene" by Paul Beauvoir

Haitian artist, Paul Beauvoir's very colorful painting of a Harbor Scene in Haiti. Oil on masonboard in a gold bamboo-looking wooden frame - unframed 32" x 18 1/4" - framed 32 3/4" x 18 3/4" - signed - late 1960's - expressionism

Paul Beauvoir was born in 1932, died in 1972. He was a member of the Centre d’Art but later joined Charles Obas at the Foyer des Arts Plastiques that was formed by a group of accomplished artists who were dissatisfied with the way Haitian artists were being treated. He worked very closely with Rene Exume and Emanuel Jolicouer. He is a very popular artist whose paintings can be seen in John Allen Franciscus’ book “Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera” and Eva Pataki’s book “Haitian Painting Art & Kingdom to Modern Riviera” and Eva Pataki’s book “Haitian Painting Art & Kitsch”.
